Type of Employment: Full time - Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans. Splice and test fiber optic cables in all outside plant applications – aerial, burial and underground, on both newly placed and existing cables. Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays. Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fiber optic telecommunication cables. Troubleshoot and locate fibre faults. Use an optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) for testing and troubleshooting. Input project as-built information. Clean and maintain tools and equipment. Requirements: Education: Completion of secondary school is required. Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the field is required. If the candidate does not have 3 years of experience, a post-secondary certificate is required. Ability to use OTDR is required.
